North Hills police departments will set up DUI checkpoints and use roving patrols to catch intoxicated drivers who try to avoid the checkpoints this weekend, the departments announced.

Police from Bradford Woods, Etna, Indiana Township, Marshall, O’Hara, Pine, Richland, Ross, Shaler, West Deer, McCandless, West View and Millvale will participate, according to a North Hills DUI Task Force news release.

The checkpoints “are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers,” the release states. The checkpoints will be accompanied with “roving, perimeter patrols and/or saturation patrols,” according to the release.
