Freeland Man Admits Molesting Young Girl
WILKES-BARRE — A Freeland man accused of molesting a young girl for years pleaded guilty Monday to child sex charges.
Clyde A. Solt, 59, pleaded guilty to counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and aggravated indecent assault. Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough accepted the plea and set sentencing for Dec. 21.
According to prosecutors, the victim reported the abuse had been going on for five years, since she was 8, and she reported it to Solt’s wife, Christina Alisia Solt, when it first happened. Christina Solt told investigators she was “horrified” about the allegations but said her husband intimidated her when she tried to leave, according to prosecutors.
He also promised it would never happen again, but the abuse continued — sometimes taking place while the victim was asleep, prosecutors said.
Christina Solt, 53, was charged and later pleaded guilty to a felony child endangerment charge. She remains free on bail pending sentencing Oct. 15.
Clyde Solt remains incarcerated at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility pending sentencing.
