DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies in Louisiana have captured an inmate who walked away from his job on Mardi Gras.

Livingston Parish Sheriff’s spokeswoman Lori Steel said 28-year-old Clifton Allen Thames was found Thursday in St. Amant in Ascension Parish after having last been seen around 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Denham Springs area.

Thames has been working with the Livingston Transitional Work Program since December. He was working in construction at a business in Denham Springs.

Steele said he is being held at the Ascension Parish jail but will be transported to Livingston Parish to face escape charges.

Thames’ criminal record was not immediately available and it’s unclear whether he’s represented by an attorney.
