Strong thunderstorms moving into Cameron County

At 157 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Las Rusias, or near Los Indios, moving east at 25 mph.

Penny size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with

this storm.

Locations impacted include Rancho Viejo, Los Indios, Rangerville, La Paloma, Olmito, Brownsville, La Encantada Elementary School, Landrum, Rangerville

Elementary School and Brownsville Fire Department Station Seven.

The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for southeastern Hidalgo and west central Cameron County until 3 p.m.

At 112 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Donna, moving east at 20 mph. Penny size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include Harlingen, Weslaco, Alamo, Donna, Mercedes, La Feria, Progreso, Santa Maria, Donna Public Library and Weslaco Mid Valley Airport.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
