Glide falls at Coquille, 30-22

COQUILLE — The Coquille football team defeated Glide 30-22 at home Friday night behind a powerful ground attack that earned the Red Devils all four of their touchdowns.

Glide (1-1) opened up the scoring with an 80-yard kickoff return by Zach Holland to start the game. Coquille (2-0) responded later in the quarter when Kane Rilatos scored on a 3-yard run. A failed conversion evened the score at 6 to end the quarter.

Glide struck again in the second quarter on a 3-yard pass from Caidyn Cunningham to Dillon Towne. Holland ran in the two-point conversion to make it 14-6 Glide. Coquille’s Caiden Yates responded with a 30-yard run, then he added a successful two-point conversion to even the score at 14-14 going into the half.

In the third quarter, Red Devils running back Gunner Yates dashed 45 yards for a go-ahead touchdown. A successful Caiden Yates two-point conversion run made it 22-14 Coquille.

Ean Smith ran for a 2-yard score that was followed by a Caiden Yates’ two-point run in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 30-14 for Coquille.

Glide responded with a 54-yard touchdown run by Holland and a successful two-point conversion to narrow the final margin to eight.

Glide (1-1) will host Reedsport next Friday.
