Al pastor taco on a pizza? It’s heaven

May 8, 2019

The easiest way to get the entire nation of Italy and half of the internet to call for your exile: order a pizza topped with pineapple. Pineapple’s permissibility on a pizza is probably one of the most explosive topics in the small but passionate world of people who like to fight about food traditions.

But we can all agree that pineapple and pork belong together when it comes to al pastor tacos, and Hungry Chameleon Pizzeria makes a solid argument that an al pastor taco belongs on a pizza.

The unorthodox pizza shop piles pork, pickled radish, pineapple and onion onto a crust smeared with chipotle-tomato sauce in a pie they’ve dubbed the Famous Al Pastor. They then make it even more extra by providing a vibrant avocado-jalapeño sauce and Mexican crema to drizzle on top.

Pineapple yay, pineapple nay — let the eggheads fight about it. This pizza is absolutely habit forming.

Hungry Chameleon Pizzeria at located at 1053 Austin Highway. The Famous Al Pastor pie costs $9.99 for a small, $15.99 for a medium and $17.99 for a large. Place takeout and delivery orders at 210-822-5555 or hungrychameleon.com.
