Felines, fanciers gather in North Augusta for annual show

NORTH AUGUSTA — Riverview Park Activities Center is best known as a venue for athletic events, but felines are the focus of attention this weekend, in the midst of an annual cat show.

The Championship and Household Pet Cat Show, an offering of Cattyshack Cats, is running from Saturday through today and has about 115 cats on board, representing the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Texas and Virginia. Today’s activities, under the auspices of The International Cat Association, are to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with judges on board from Maine, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania and England.

Admission is $5 per person, with support from such sponsors as Meybohm Real Estate, Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Products, attorney Thomas P. Murphy and Veterinary Healthcare Associates. Details are at https://bit.ly/1AvP90g.
