Donnelley in Joint Venture with IBM France
CHICAGO (AP) _ Printing giant R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co. said Thursday it has formed a joint venture with the French subsidiary of International Business Machines Corp. to run IBM’s publishing business in Orleans, France.
The new company, called R.R. Donnelley France S.A., will operate a publications center that prints computer documentation for IBM’s European customers.
Chicago-based Donnelley said it will digitally link the IBM plant to its other plants in Europe, Asia and North America.
″This strategic partnership provides needed capacity for the French and European markets while adding another important location to our worldwide digital network for software distribution,″ said Ed Tyler, president of Donnelley’s documentation services group.
Donnelley is the world’s largest printer of catalogs, newspaper advertising inserts, magazines, books, directories, financial documents and computer documentation.
