DE KALB, Ill. (AP) _ Cindy Conner scored 26 points to lead 24th-ranked Northern Illinois to a 79-53 victory Wednesday night over Illinois-Chicago in the Mid-Continent Conference.
Conner, who scored 14 points in the first half, also pulled down 11 rebounds for the Huskies (13-3, 8-0).
Illinois-Chicago (9-8, 3-5) was led by Angela Gilbert’s 18 points. Penny Armstrong added 14 points.
NIU took a 13-4 lead in the first five minutes and held a 33-21 edge at intermission. UIC’s Flames were never able to get any closer in the second half as NIU had its largest lead of 77-48 with 1:20 left.
The Huskies also got 18 points from E.C. Hill while Caryn Alexander came off the bench to score 11 and Dianna Wingis finished with 10 and 15 rebounds.
