Espanola gun dealer sentenced to 2 years in prison

December 19, 2018

Robert Real, 56, a federally licensed firearms dealer in Espanola, was sentenced Monday to 24 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release, along with a $10,000 fine, and 50 hours of community service, for illegally selling firearms, falsifying records, and making false statements to law enforcement agents.

On June 7, Real, who sold guns as owner of Shooter’s Outpost, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, sale of a firearm to a felon, sale of a firearm other than a rifle or shotgun to a person under 21 years old, falsification of firearm transfer records, and making materially false statements to federal law enforcement agents.

In pleading guilty, Real admitted that from March 12, 2016, to February 24, 2017, he ignored and avoided several legal and administrative restrictions on federally licensed firearms dealers.
