ARETHA FRANKLIN WILLS FOUND IN HOME
PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Three handwritten wills have been found in the suburban Detroit home of Aretha Franklin, months after the death of the “Queen of Soul.” This word from an attorney who says one of the wills was discovered under cushions in the living room, a lawyer said Monday. The latest of the three wills is dated March 2014 and appears to give the famous singer’s assets to family members. Some writing is extremely hard to decipher, however, and the four pages have words scratched out and phrases in the margins. Franklin was 76 when she died last August of pancreatic cancer. Lawyers and family members said at the time that she had no will, but three handwritten versions were discovered earlier this month. Two from 2010 were found in a locked cabinet after a key was located. The 2014 version was inside a spiral notebook under cushions, said David Bennett _ an attorney for Franklin’s estate. The wills were filed yesterday.

MADONNA DEFENDS EUROVISION PERFORMANCE
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Madonna says she was looking to bring the world together with a performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv that’s tinged with controversy. Madonna tweets she is grateful for the opportunity “to spread the message of peace and unity with the world.” Two of her dancers flashed Israeli and Palestinian flags pinned to their backs. The European Broadcast Union says Madonna was told of the non-political nature of the event and she did not clear that aspect of her performance in advance. That was not got most viewers upset, though. Many complained that Madonna was singing off key.

STEVE VAN ZANDT LEAVES THE POLITICS ASIDE ON “SUMMER OF SORCERY”
NEW YORK (AP) _ Steve Van Zandt is keeping politics out of his music, for once. Van Zandt acknowledges he used to be “as political as it gets,” but he wants to provide a break to what’s going on in the world. That’s the approach to his new album, “Summer of Sorcery.” He says for once, his music is not autobiographical. For hardcore fans, Van Zandt says that may be an adjustment. For everyone else, Van Zandt welcomes them to his shows. He says his concerts welcome Democrats, Republicans and independents because “it’s a strictly musical trip.”

He says he will tackle sad subjects on his upcoming album, but the songs will still lift you up. Pardi’s album, also called “Heartache Medication,” will come out in September.
