Noel has shelter in place

August 28, 2018

Noel Elementary, 2200 Newcomb Drive, spent about 20 minutes in shelter-in-place this morning after a parent reported to the school that they had seen what appeared to be a student carrying a rifle in the vicinity of the school.

Campus leaders notified the ECISD police and put the school in shelter-in-place.

A shelter-in-place is a precaution taken when there is a situation happening in the area around the school that could potentially affect the school, a news release said.

During this time, the school’s entrances are locked and monitored while inside the building classes and other activities go on as usual. In this case, police searched the neighborhood but found nothing. The shelter-in-place was lifted at 8:30 a.m.

Public Information Officer Mike Adkins said nothing was found.
