Naomichi “Joe” Ozaki leads Casio World Open
IBUSUKI, Japan (AP) _ Japan’s Naomichi ``Joe″ Ozaki shot a 4-under-par 68 today to take a two-stroke lead over countryman Mitsutaka Kusakabe after the second round of the Casio World Open.
Ozaki, 41, the youngest of three Ozaki brothers, had a 9-under 135 total on the Ibusuki Golf Club course. Kusakabe shot a 68.
Masashi ″Jumbo″ Ozaki was three back along with Canada’s Rick Gibson. Jumbo Ozaki shot a 71, while Gibson had a 67 _ the best round of the day.
The third Ozaki brother, Tateo ``Jet,″ was another stroke back along with American Brian Watts and Japan’s Hirofumi Miyase. Watts shot a 69, Miyase had a 69, and Jet Ozaki a 71.
American Chris Smith, the first-round leader after a 67, shot a 74 to drop six back at 141. Fred Funk (70) and Brandt Jobe (71) also had 141 totals. Italy’s Costantino Rocca (70) was another stroke back at 142.
