Westwood Leads Loch Lomond Tourney
GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) _ Lee Westwood fired a 3-under-par 68 Friday to share the third-round lead with Sweden’s Dennis Edlund in the $1.41 million Loch Lomond tournament.
Rain interrupted play for more than two hours, but the break worked for Westwood and Edlund, both of whom finished the round with 7-under 206 totals.
Edlund, last year’s English Open runner-up, shot a 67 to share a three-stroke lead with Westwood going into the final round Saturday.
Westwood’s playing partner, Ross Drummond, the tournament’s halfway leader, carded a 72 and dropped into a third-place tie with David Howell (70) at 209.
Another stroke back were defending champion Tom Lehman (69), Derrick Cooper (67), Australian Stephen Allan (72) and Sweden’s Klas Eriksson (65).
European No. 1 Colin Montgomerie was in a group of five at 211 after a third-round 68. Spain’s Jose Maria Olazabal was at 212 and first-round leader Ian Woosnam slipped to 214, eight strokes back.
Westwood is seeking his third win in four European tour starts, while Drummond needs a strong performance to regain his European tour card he lost last year.
