Devils defeat Dogs 55-49
MOHAVE VALLEY — Junior guard Nate Vagas scored 12 points to lead the Dust Devils over the host Bulldogs at Kingman High School on Friday night.
The No. 28-ranked River Valley squad’s Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A West Region 55-49 victory kept the Dust Devils’ postseason hopes alive.
“We’re still in the hunt for a playoff spot,” said River Valley head coach Dan Powell by text message. “We need to beat Chino (Valley) next Friday and have some help along the way.”
Sophomore forward Andrew Rodriguez scored 11 points, sophomore guard Amaro Contreras chipped in 10 and senior small forward Brenan Gladeau added nine for River Valley.
“The team played 32 minutes of great basketball, which is a great factor and everybody played together,” Powell said. “The younger players contributed and it showed on the court.”
River Valley’s record is 6-11 overall, 3-6 in conference and 3-6 in region, according to aiaonline.org. The No. 34-ranked Bulldogs are 3-12 overall, 1-9 in conference and 0-8 in region.
