The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that the SX-300 experimental plane burst into flames Thursday afternoon at the Spruce Creek Fly-In near Port Orange.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says the pilot, 61-year-old John Wilson, was airlifted to an Orlando hospital with critical injuries, and the passenger, 35-year-old Matthew Simmons, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
