Dayton 38, Wofford 14

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) _ Chad Lindsey had 161 yards rushing and two touchdowns Saturday as Dayton beat Wofford 38-14 and raised its record to 10-0.

Dayton jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and cruised to the win. Wofford (4-5) lost three of five fumbles and had just 31 passing yards.

Lindsey had touchdown runs of 11 and 34 yards while four other players also scored for Dayton.

Wofford’s only scores came on a 42-yard run by Michael Edens and a 3-yard score by Mile Lane, both in the fourth quarter.

Dayton’s quick-strike offense had no scoring drive take more than three minutes.

Wofford’s junior quarterback Brad Smothers completed just 2-of-8 passes and had two interceptions. Dayton’s Kevin Johns completied 4-of-11 passes for 69 yards and one interception and a touchdown.

Johns also had an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Linebacker Sean Gorius led Dayton with 15 tackles. Trevor Ellison led Wofford with 12 stops.

Dayton, which completes its regular season next week at the University of San Diego, has already clinched at least part of the Pioneer Football League title.
