Why no quotes from day laborers in Building 1 Community story?
I have volunteered for the Building 1 Community immigration organization for seven years. I know it is a stellar organization that helps all types of immigrants in many capacities. I know that it does not mistreat day laborers, but on the contrary supports them in many ways.
On Thursday The New York Times said about local newspapers, “Praise them when you think they have done a good job and criticize them when you think they could do better.”
I must criticize your reporting. Why are there no quotes from day laborers from the center in The Advocate article? Why believe one ex-employee who was only there for three months?
Immigration is a fraught topic. It behooves The Advocate to do responsible reporting. This is anything but that.
