BARI, Italy (AP) _ A storm packing funnel clouds and 87 mph winds lashed the port city of Bari on Friday, killing a fisherman whose boat was caught in the tempest.

City officials said the body of Carmelo Pennisi, 61, was found on the shore after the storm subsided. It left a trail of smashed windows and uprooted trees. More than 20 people received minor injuries from flying debris.

Rescue crews safely brought in several fishing craft that had sent distress signals, officials added, but two boats still were unaccounted for late Friday.

Bari airport was closed for about two hours, and electricity was disrupted briefly to the city of 370,000 on Italy's southeastern Adriatic coast.

The storm moved down the coastline where it caused similar damage but no reported casualties at several other cities, authorities said.
