BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — People across Europe marked All Saints’ Day with prayers and visits to cemeteries to leave candles and flowers at the graves of loved ones.

The Nov. 1 holiday is an important one in European countries with large Catholic populations.

All Saints’ Day, also known as All Hallows’ Day, shares its origins with Halloween.

Here AP photographers in Spain, Poland, Belarus and France document solemn remembrances.
