Twin brothers take long journey to coaching at Summer Creek

Marcus GutierrezMay 20, 2019

When Louisiana Pacific closed its doors in Jasper, Texas in the early 90’s, Gayedale Fletcher had a decision to make.

The young mother, who worked in the factory to support her four sons, had a family to raise and was looking to give her children the best life.

After weighing several options, Fletcher decided to move her twin sons Shelton Ervin, Elton Ervin along with Jerome Fletcher and Dion Fletcher 134 miles down to Houston, where they now serve as boys and girls track coach at Summer Creek, where they had two athletes secure a gold medal at state last week.

It was a move Shelton and Elton remember making when they were 11 years old.
