WVC BOYS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Meyers Shuts Out Holy Redeemer

At Holy Redeemer, first-half goals by Aiden McFarlane and Tanner Nilon lifted Meyers to a 2-0 win over Holy Redeemer on Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference boys soccer.

Nilon and Kenney Dewey tallied assists for the Mohawks (9-2-1, 9-1-1 Division 2), who remain in a tight league title chase with the win. They’re one win from matching first-place Wyoming Seminary’s division record (10-1-1), and they’ll get a chance to even the season series with Sem on Tuesday.

Besides the two goals late in the first half, Holy Redeemer (7-7-1, 6-5-1 Division 2) kept Meyers off the board with nine saves by Lance McGrane.

At Pittston Area, Eddie Melan scored twice and had an assist, while Alex Paduck tallied a goal and assist by halftime as the Tigers (7-3-1, 5-3-1 Division 1) snapped a three-game winless streak.

Kyle Mlodzienski stopped nine shots for the Patriots (1-13-1, 1-11-1 Division 1).

Chris Wolk’s goal in the second half put the Cougars (7-4-2, 6-4-2 Division 1) on the board.

At Coughlin, Logan Davison scored twice, and keepers David Sikora and Sawyer Koretz combined for six saves in a shutout effort as the Crusaders (3-6-4, 3-6-3 Division 1) maintained their grip on the No. 8 seed in the District 2 Class 3A power ratings.

Isaiah Johnson piled up 22 saves for the Trojans (2-12, 1-11 Division 1).
