Celestial Seasonings Gives Ad Account To Chicago Agency

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) _ Celestial Seasonings Inc., the nation’s largest herbal tea manufacturer, has awarded its $6 million advertising account to the Chicago-based agency Tatham Euro RSCG.

Tatham Euro was selected Wednesday from eight finalists after a five-week review.

Company spokeswoman Renee Tilton identified the other finalists were two- year incumbent Ally & Gargano of New York; Karsh & Hagan Advertising of Denver; Grey Advertising of New York; Foote, Cone & Belding of Chicago; Cliff Freeman & Partners of New York; Borders, Perrin & Norrander of Portland, Ore., and Jerry Inc. of New York.

Celestial Seasonings plans a television ad campaign to sell its Iced Delight iced tea in five new markets, said chief financial officer Philip B. Livingston. He said the company, which introduced its iced-tea product last year and went public July 12, has sold 290,000 cases of Iced Delight this year. Livingston said Celestial Seasonings hopes to enter the specialty beverage market and may even acquire specialty beverage manufacturers.

Celestial Seasonings has given Perrier Group of America Inc. the right to manufacture and market Celestial Seasonings ready-to-drink iced-tea in the United States and Canada.
