SUV slams into Brunswick County junkyard, hitting three people
On Saturday, an SUV slammed into a well-known junkyard landmark, hitting three people and critically injuring one of them.
According to WECT, emergency crews were dispatched at 10:40 a.m. to Fort Apache, a junkyard tourist attraction owned by Dale Varnam in Supply, according to Coastline Rescue Chief David Robinson.
“Upon arrival, it was determined a small SUV had left the roadway and partially impacted the building at the overhang,” Robinson said.
The car hit three people, and one of the three victims suffered critical injuries and had to be airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
The incident is under investigation by North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
