Ruins ends Sunday night vegetarian dinners

February 13, 2019

Ruins has done away with its Sunday night vegetarian dinners.

Called the Last Supper, the four-course vegetarian offering started at the end of October and lasted until early February. The vegetarian dinners took the place of Sunday ramen nights at Ruins.

On Instagram and Facebook, Ruins posted: “We gave it our all, but with an average turnout of 15 people (most of which were not vegetarian) it doesn’t really make sense! Stay tuned for a cool new thing happening Sunday nights starting next week.”

No word yet on what that “cool new thing” is.

A vegetarian for about 10 years, owner Tony Brown said he was loosely inspired by Lula Cafe in Chicago which offers three-course farm dinners Monday nights for $45 as well as a nightly, six-course, vegetarian tasting menu.

Brown opened Ruins in an old art deco diner on North Monroe Street in 2014. It’s since become popular for its McRuins night on Mondays and Taco Tuesdays as well as ever-changing menu of small plates Wednesday through Saturday and creative cocktails. It has room for 38.

Ruins is at 825 N. Monroe St. Call (509) 443-5606. On Facebook: www.facebook.com/ruins.spokane.
