New rates at River’s Edge Golf Course take effect at the end of September

NEEDLES — New fees for play at River’s Edge Golf Course, 144 Marina Dr., will take effect at the end of September when the overseeding of the golf course is complete. The golf course is owned and operated by the city of Needles.

Passes

• A six-month pass has been eliminated.

• An annual pass without golf cart is $900.

• An annual pass with a golf cart is $1,200.

• A premium annual pass with use of the driving range is $1,300.

The 20 play and 10 play punch cards for 18 hole rounds have been eliminated.

Daily greens fees

• Nov. 1 to May 15 - 18 holes $24 walking, $35 with a golf cart; 9 holes $24 for walking and with a golf cart.

• Twilight (noon) - 18 holes $20 walking, $30 with a golf cart; 9 holes were eliminated.

• Super Twilight (2:30 p.m.) - 18 holes $15 walking, $20 with a golf cart; 9 holes were eliminated.

• Daily rates from May 16 to Oct. 31 are adjustable for both 18 and 9 holes.

Green fee children’s rate (10-18 years old)

• Needles students with ID play 18 holes free; walking only.

• Junior/student Nov. 1 to May 15: 18 holes $7.50; 9 holes $5.

• Junior/student May 16 to Oct. 31: 18 holes $6.25; 9 holes $3.75.

Cart rentals are $11 per person for either nine or 18 holes.

The miscellaneous rates for the golf course include pull carts, 18 holes, $4; driving range $3 for 58 golf balls, $4 for 90 golf balls; monthly range passes have been eliminated; an annual range pass is $300; club rental is $10.

Patron memberships

• $75 annual fee

• Nov. 1 to May 15: 18 holes $22 walking, $32 with cart; 9 holes $20 for walking or cart.

• May 16 to Oct. 31: $5 off for 18 holes on the Nov. 1 to May 5 rate.

Monthly passes

• Monthly golf fee is $180.

• Monthly golf fee and driving range is $200.

• Monthly golf fee with cart and range is $280.

The trail fee (use of private carts) is a $450 annual fee or $75 a month.

The city resident discount card gives residents of needles $5 off for up to 12 rounds.

Corporate greens fee rate for businesses of 50 plus employees are $25 for 18 holes including the golf cart.

“We found it successful over the two years to be the least cost golf course and we saw the number of rounds and revenue go up,” said Rick Daniels, city manager. “So what I ask you to do is to have these the maximum but give me the authority to reduce prices if one of the other courses reduces their prices.”

The city council approved the new golf green fees during their meeting on Aug. 14.
