Missing Wis. woman, 82, found in Ill. store
CALEDONIA, Wis. (AP) — An 82-year-old Wisconsin woman who was missing for more than a day was found safe about 80 miles away after she collapsed in a grocery store in a Chicago suburb.
Jean Fox of Caledonia left home Monday morning to go shopping. She wasn’t heard from again until she was found Tuesday afternoon in Wheaton, Ill., The Journal Times of Racine reported (http://bit.ly/K4fT4u ).
“She’s confused, but she’s all right,” Myra Fox said as she was heading to meet her mother at an Illinois hospital.
Jean Fox had started showing signs of memory loss, and Alzheimer’s disease runs in the family, Myra Fox told the newspaper. Jean Fox was beginning to forget little things but her daughter hadn’t noticed anything major until this week.
The mother and daughter had been making plans to go to church together on Tuesday. But when Jean Fox hadn’t returned home by that morning, her daughter grew worried.
Myra Fox used bank records to track her mother’s purchases, and found out that Jean Fox had stopped at gas stations in Waukesha and in Roscoe, Ill.
Eventually Jean Fox was found after she collapsed at a store in Wheaton, Ill. She told store employees she thought she was in Racine.
