BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) _ The Colombian navy intercepted a speedboat off its Pacific coast on Sunday and seized three tons of cocaine, the navy said.

Two people were arrested in the operation, which turned up more than a hundred packages stuffed with cocaine, Adm. Carlos Pineda said.

Multi-ton cocaine seizures are common in this South American country that exports 90 percent of the world's cocaine, and last year produced an estimated 520 tons.

A police search in May of a farm near Colombia's Caribbean coast turned up more than five tons of cocaine stashed in an underground cellar.

A $1.3 billion U.S. aid package recently approved for Colombia is aimed at helping the country eradicate illegal drug crops and strengthen air, land and sea interdiction.
