August 3, 2018

A man was shot in a Fitchburg apartment Wednesday night, during a home invasion in which numerous shots were fired.

The unidentified victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting that happened at about 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Pike Drive, Fitchburg police said.

“Numerous suspects entered the apartment and attacked the victim,” the police release said. “During the struggle, numerous shots were fired.”

The suspects fled the apartment before police arrived.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, and one of the suspects may also have been injured.

“This does not appear to be a random act,” police said.

The suspect who allegedly shot the victim is a black male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, heavy build, short hair, wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue shorts.

Police had no description of the other suspects, or how many suspects were involved.

Town and city of Madison police assisted in the investigation.
