NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department says more than a dozen people have been arrested after demonstrators climbed the globe sculpture in Columbus Circle to unfurl a banner protesting President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

The unscheduled protest took place around 1 p.m. Tuesday in close proximity to Trump International Hotel & Tower. The banner read "Love No Border! Stop the Deportations," and three of the demonstrators climbed inside the globe after unfurling the banner.

The NYPD responded and arrested 14 demonstrators, saying no charges have been immediately filed. Witness Tarik Othman says the demonstrators were peaceful, and there were no incidents while people were being taken into custody.
