Several Colombians killed on Venezuela border
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — At least five Colombians have been killed just over the border in Venezuela under unknown circumstances.
The Colombian Embassy in Caracas announced Tuesday that five bodies have been identified in the border town of San Carlos de Zulia, and three more bodies are expected to be identified shortly.
Colombian Ambassador Luis Eladio Perez says the motive of the killings is unknown, but may have been the result of fighting among criminals.
The border region has long been a haven for rebels, drug traffickers and criminal gangs. The border area is among this violent country’s more dangerous places, but the discovery of that number of bodies is unusual.
