Beacon Hill’s 2 top lawmakers have strong fundraising year
BOSTON (AP) — The state’s two most powerful Democratic lawmakers on Beacon Hill are pulling in hefty donations to their campaign accounts.
State campaign finance reports show House Speaker Robert DeLeo collected more than $545,000 in campaign receipts in 2015. That’s more than in any other year for the lawmaker from Winthrop. He ended the year with $263,000 left in his account.
Senate President Stan Rosenberg also had a record year. The Amherst lawmaker collected nearly $432,000 in 2015. He ended the year with $257,000 left over.
They weren’t the only ones who had strong fundraising years.
Fundraising reports filed with the state show Gov. Charlie Baker collected nearly $2.8 million in campaign receipts in 2015.
The Republican governor ended the year with about $2.4 million left in his account.
This story has been corrected to show that the governor is a Republican, not a Democrat.
