Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, iHeartMedia to host Long Haul Against Hunger radiothon Dec. 7

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and iHeartMedia are teaming up for the Long Haul Against Hunger radiothon on Friday, Dec. 7.

The annual event encourages community members to support the food bank’s mission by dropping off money and nonperishable food items from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at two Giant Eagle locations:

2775 W. Market St., Fairlawn6493 Strip Ave. N.W., North Canton

Participating iHeartMedia radio stations will broadcast live at the locations throughout the day, and monetary donations will be matched by the FirstEnergy Foundation, The J.M. Smucker Company and the 415 Group. People also can make a donation on the food bank website on Dec. 7 and have their donation matched. Thanks to matching donations, each $1 donated can provide eight meals.

The Long Haul Against Hunger radiothon is part of the food bank’s annual holiday campaign. This year, the food bank is aiming to provide 7 million meals for area families in need.
