New Milford budget has public hearing on Saturday

April 5, 2019

New Milford residents will have a chance to comment on the proposed $102.6 million budget at a public hearing beginning at 10 a.m. at Sarah Noble Intermediate School on Saturday.

The hearing will be before the Board of Finance, which will set the final amount before it heads to referendum.

The Town Council adopted the latest version last month. It is about $533,000, or 0.52 percent, more than the current budget.

It includes nearly $39 million for the town, or roughly $88,900 less than the mayor’s proposal and about $97,400 less than the current town budget.

It also includes $63.6 million for the schools, which is about 1 percent more than the current budget, but about $1 million less than the school’s request. The school board had already cut $423,000 from the superintendent’s proposal before sending it to the Town Council.
