Cedar City mother suspected in girl’s death to stand trial
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A Cedar City woman charged in the death of her 14-month-old daughter will stand trial later this year.
The Spectrum reports Judge Keith Barnes granted a request for trial in the case against 24-year-old Cherokee Dea on Tuesday.
She is charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse in the April 2017 death of her daughter.
Dea pleaded not guilty in April.
Her boyfriend, Brendan Dalton, was also charged in the girl’s death. He has pleaded not guilty.
A trial date for Dea has not been set.
If convicted, she could face 15 years to life in Utah State Prison.
