Governor announces judicial nominees
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine lawmakers are reviewing the governor’s latest judicial nominees.
Republican Gov. Paul LePage has nominated Skowhegan lawyer John Martin for district court judge. Martin owns his own practice. He was an associate attorney with the Law Offices of Michael A. Wiers for two years.
Martin received his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and graduated from the University of Maine.
LePage also re-nominated Superior Court Justice John H. O’Neil. He was initially appointed to the district court in 2007 and was previously a trial lawyer for nearly two decades.
O’Neil is a graduate of Boston College and Suffolk University Law School.
The Legislature’s joint judiciary committee is reviewing judicial nominations Wednesday. The Senate would then need to confirm the nominees.
