February 7, 2019

KANKAKEE — Tyler J. Cole received a 10-year prison sentence Tuesday pursuant to a plea agreement on sexual abuse charges where the victim was younger than the age of 13.

The 23-year-old Cole’s case was set for jury trial in Kankakee County court.

Cole pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13. After his release, Cole will be on probation from three years to life.

The case stems from Cole’s arrest March 12, 2018.

The victim was a family member, and the offenses occurred on and off throughout several years at homes in Manteno and rural Bourbonnais.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Brenda Claudio and Carol Costello.

Cole was represented by public defender Kirsten Steeves.
