Woman Police Officer Found Slain In Queens

November 12, 1992

NEW YORK (AP) _ An off-duty female police officer was found dead in a field, shot in the head and nude. Authorities said she may have been the victim of a carjacking.

Officer Milagros Johnson was found Wednesday near John F. Kennedy Airport. Her 1992-model car was found hours later several miles away in Brooklyn.

″A carjack is a possibility, a robbery is a possibility,″ said Inspector Larry Loesch.

Johnson, 25, was shot three times in the head by a 25-caliber pistol, said police Lt. Richard Kuberski.

She was found eight hours after leaving a bar where she was socializing with other off-duty officers, Kuberski said.

She was the daughter of the late William Johnson, a former director of the city’s civilian complaint review board, said police spokesman Sgt. John McCluskey.
