Lakeview track opens with dual against Schuyler
Lakeview track and field went head-to-head with Schuyler in the first event of the season last Thursday. The Vikings and Warriors battled almost evenly to a split in event wins with Lakeview taking the top spot 15 times while Schuyler won 19 times.
The Viking boys claimed 10 wins while the girls were victorious five times.
Boys wins came in four field events - the shot put, triple jump, high jump and long jump - and six times on the track in the 100-meter dash, 200, 400, 800, 100 hurdles and 400 relay.
The Lady Vikes won the 100, 200, 1600 as well as the 1600 and 3200 relays.
Field event winners included Cooper Tessendorf finishing at 4-feet, 10 inches in the high jump, Kienan Prorok leaping 18-10 for the top spot in the long jump, Cody Thompson tossed the shot put 42-3 for the win and Cameron Drozd hitting 38-7.50 in the triple jump.
Layne Forney won the 110 high hurdles with a time of 19 seconds, Aaron Peterson and Adam Van Cleave both ran 11.9 seconds in the 100, Kaylob Kobza crossed the line first in the 100 with a mark of 55.6 seconds, Cameron Drozd scored a win in the 800 with a time of 2:15.30 and Kobza outran his competitors in the 200 with a time of 24.4.
The team of Peterson, Prorok, Seth Gerkensmeyer and Jose De La Cruz won the 100 with a finish of 47.2 seconds.
In the girls events, Macy Stock won the the 100 in 13.10 seconds and took the 200 in 27.9. The 1600 relay group won as well, no names available, and Makenna Frenzen won twice with first-place runs in both the 1600 and 3200.
