Penn St. 99, VMI 73

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) _ Pete Lisicky scored a career-high 26 points Thursday night and Penn State beat Virginia Military Institute 99-73.

Lisicky, a sophomore guard, was 9-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range. The six 3-pointers were also a career high.

Freshman Calvin Booth added 13 points, five rebounds and five blocks for Penn State (3-0).

Brent Conley, a freshman forward, had a career high 27 points, while Bryan Taueg came of the bench to add 12 for the Keydets (1-2).

The Nittany Lions took a 20-6 lead and led by as many as 21 points in the first half. VMI scored the last five points of the half to cut the Lions’ lead to 16.

VMI guard Maurice Spencer hit a 3-pointer at the start of the second half, but VMI would get no closer.
