Prep baseball: Warriors win, Pirates fall to Cardinals, Bluejays prevail 9-1
LAKE MILLS — Lakeside Lutheran’s baseball team used a 6-run first inning and 5-run second to defeat visiting Rio 19-0 in a nonconference game at LLHS on Friday.
In the opening frame, Alex Ryan hit a 2-run double before run-scoring singles by Logan Pampel and Carter Buchta pushed the lead to four. The Warriors (8-10) added two more on an error.
Pampel and Micah Missall had RBI base knocks in the second and Carter Schneider doubled in Ian Olszewski, increasing the lead to 11-0.
Nathan Chesterman threw three no-hit innings, striking out five to earn the decision. Olszewski struck out four over two frames of relief duty.
Schneider was 4-for-5, doubling twice. Ryan and Pampel both went 3-for-4.
Jacob Freson and Buchta had two base knocks apiece.
Lakeside Lutheran hosts Johnson Creek in a nonconference game on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

MARSHALL — Joseph Cook pitched a complete game and Dawson Kalish drove in three runs to lead Marshall to a 10-3 Capitol South win over Waterloo on Friday.
Brody Tschanz started for Waterloo and took the loss. Jacob Filter and Eduardo Rodriguez Lara each drove in a run for the Pirates (8-9, 2-7 in conference), who host Cambridge to complete a suspended game on Monday.

ORFORDVILLE — Braden Walling pitched six scoreless innings to earn the decision and six different Bluejays drove in runs as Johnson Creek clinched the Trailways South outright with a 9-1 win over Parkview on Thursday.
Bow Hartwig started for Johnson Creek (18-3, 7-1 in conference) and allowed one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk in one inning of work. Walling took over from them and allowed just three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Anthony Purpi led a 13-hit attack with three hits. Purpi and Kaleb Hartwig each stole two bases. Bow Hartwig and Bryce Henningsen each added two hits.
