Leaking pipe temporarily closes library
FAIRFIELD — The main branch of the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, will be closed until at least Tuesday, due to a burst pipe in the facility.
According to an email sent out to those on the library’s mailing list on Saturday, early Thursday morning, a valve burst in the ceiling on the library’s second floor “pouring gallons of water into the west side of the building,” and flooding areas of the library’s first and secnd floors, as well as the basement.
“Thankfully, very few library materials were involved, but there was much damage to walls, ceilings and floors,” the email read.
The library was closed through the weekend and will remain closed until Tuesday for clean-up and repair. Patrons are advised to check the library web site, http://fairfieldpubliclibrary.org/, for updates.
Due dates for materials borrowed have been extended to Tuesday, although the book drops are available and the Fairfield Woods Branch is open on its regular schedule.
