BOLTON, N.Y. (AP) — A 37-year-old Vermont is jailed in New York after authorities say he led police on a 30-mile (48-kilometer) high-speed chase on an upstate highway.

State police say authorities were looking for Austin Blodgett of Mount Holly after receiving a report Thursday that he had displayed a gun during an encounter with someone in Westport in Essex County.

Troopers later spotted him traveling south on Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway. Police say he refused to stop and accelerated to more than 100 mph.

He eventually stopped in neighboring Warren County, where Blodgett stopped near Exit 23 in the town of Bolton.

He's charged with numerous traffic violations and illegally possessing a 9mm handgun. Blodgett is being held Friday in the Warren County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. It couldn't be learned from court officials if he has a lawyer.
