Herd Madness set for Oct. 19
HUNTINGTON — Marshall University celebrates the start of basketball season Friday, Oct. 19, with Herd Madness in Cam Henderson Center.
The free event begins at 7 p.m. on the first day of Homecoming weekend. Arena doors open at 6 p.m.
Herd Madness is a preseason showcase for the Thundering Herd men’s and women’s teams with player introductions, a 3-point shooting competition, a two-ball competition, a slam dunk contest and an autograph session.
The first 1,000 fans will receive a Herd Madness T-shirt. There will be a food giveaway for Marshall students courtesy of D.P. Dough and one student will be selected to attempt a half-court shot for a car from Todd Judy Ford of Huntington. Schedule posters will be given away.
Season ticket-holders can pick up their tickets at the event. A choose-your-seat promotion will be held for season ticket purchases.
The Marshall men’s team has home exhibition games Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 against Glenville State College and West Virginia Wesleyan College respectively before going on the road Nov. 7 to open the season at Eastern Kentucky University.
Marshall’s women open their season Nov. 7 at home against Indiana State University.
