SACRED HEART PIONEERS vs. ST. FRANCIS RED FLASH WHERE: Campus Field; FairfieldWHEN: Saturday, noonTV: NEC Front RowRECORDS: Sacred Heart (6-4, 4-1 NEC); St. Francis (4-6, 2-3 NEC)LAST MEETING: 16-7 Sacred Heart; Nov. 11, 2017 (All-time series tied 11-11)LAST WEEK: Sacred Heart (Lost 28-24 at Duquesne); St. Francis (Lost 30-14 vs. CCSU)ABOUT SACRED HEARTDestiny is out of Sacred Heart’s hands. The Pioneers lost 28-24 to Duquesne last week, which means they no longer control their playoff fate. They’ll head into the final week of the regular season needing a win and some help — a Central Connecticut State win over Duquesne — to continue playing. The Pioneers, who are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the Northeast Conference, have surprised skeptics with their play, but obviously they’d like to take their season a step further and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2014.ABOUT ST. FRANCISCan St. Francis play spoiler? Having already been eliminated from contention, that’s pretty much all the Red Flash (4-6, 2-3) can hope to do.
