Former Atascocita star Edwards returns to Texas

Carsen Edwards had a homecoming in the state of Texas on Dec. 9 at the Longhorns at the Erwin Center.

The Purdue junior guard tied a career high scoring 40 points, but the Boilermakers lost a 72-68 decision to the Longhorns.

It was the first time the Atascocita graduate played in the state of Texas.

Edwards went 15 of 26 from the field, 7 of 14 from the 3-point line and added four rebounds and three assists for the Boilermakes. He also surpassed 1,300 career points in the loss to Texas and is averaging 15.6 pointer per game in 81 career games at Purdue.

Edwards was rewarded and was named the Big Ten Player of the week. In his two contests the guard averaged 30 points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Edwards’ two career 40-point games are the third most for an active player and the most among major-college players. His two career 40-point games are the fifth most in a career in Purdue history.

The Atascocita graduate is averaging 25.5 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game this season.
