North Pocono Forfeits Game After Pitch-count Violation

May 8, 2019

What appeared to be a walk-off victory for North Pocono turned into a forfeit in favor of Wallenpaupack for violation of the pitch-count rule Tuesday in a Lackawanna League Division II baseball game.

Damarco Maglio reached on an error and scored on a fielder’s choice by Ryan Ruddy in the seventh inning to give host North Pocono an apparent 2-1 win over the Buckhorns.

However, North Pocono violated the PIAA pitch-count rules when starting pitcher Jake Millan pitched to a new batter after surpassing the 100-pitch limit for the game, Lackawanna League baseball president Scott Gower said.

According to the rule, if a pitcher reaches 100 pitches during an at-bat, he can complete the at-bat, but cannot pitch to another batter. Millan was removed after throwing 109 pitches in 6⅔ innings.

Kyle Bosley had two hits, including a double, for the Trojans.

Mabret Levant doubled for Wallenpaupack.
