Deputies investigating multi-vehicle crash involving deputy
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Florida are investigating a three-vehicle crash that involved a deputy.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office tells the Tampa Bay Times that Deputy Gary Wilson was driving his Chevrolet Tahoe cruiser Sunday morning when he approached a red traffic light at an intersection. Investigators say 31-year-old Anthony Watt didn’t see traffic stopping in front of him and crashed into the back of a Dodge Ram.
The collision pushed the Dodge Ram into the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy wasn’t injured, but the driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash. Watt was issued a uniform traffic citation for careless driving. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
