NEW YORK (AP) _ A sport utility vehicle carrying former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was hit by a car in Georgia, leaving Giuliani’s vehicle damaged but its occupants unharmed.
Giuliani and his companion, Judith Nathan, were shaken but otherwise uninjured in the hit-and-run accident Thursday morning, The Daily News reported in Friday editions. Giuliani went on as planned to an Atlanta speaking engagement.
``Everybody’s fine,″ Giuliani’s spokeswoman, Sunny Mindel, told the News. ``It was a little unsettling.″
A Volvo was heading the wrong way on the Ralph Abernathy Highway when it hit Giuliani’s SUV and fled the scene, the News said. The SUV was scraped and its sideview mirror was knocked off.
Giuliani and Nathan, along with Giuliani’s business partner, Roy Bailey, and members of his security detail, were being driven to the Georgia World Congress Center. Giuliani delivered an address there later in the day and mentioned the incident during his speech.
