Postal Service spotlighting rural carriers
United States Postal Service rural mail carriers Lisa Laurer, Holly Broadwater, Michael Varnish, Lori Schmidt and Gregg Snyder gathered Wednesday in front of the Somerset County Courthouse to display new LED strobe lights the Postal Service is providing to rural carriers. Broadwater said she likes having the extra lighting on her vehicle for the winter months. According to USPS officials, rural carriers often deliver mail on the side of the road, making them difficult to be seen by other motorists. The LED strobe lights can alert other motorists from hundreds of feet away.
